Why Should I Smile?

Smiling can change your whole life! No, seriously it CAN CHANGE YOUR WHOLE LIFE! Smiling says you are undefeated. Even though the world is bearing down on you, you will not submit to it's will. Why? Because Christ has already won! While we fight and struggle through the battle, He has already won the war.

5 Ways to Save Money This Summer!

Ah, summer has arrived! And flown by! But not without a flurry (or standstill) of activity. Be it the week-long vacation or an hour long picnic; we all want to fill these next couple months with fun. So the question; how to do it without breaking the bank? The summer season does not have to be a drain on your savings. There are plenty of opportunities to have an enjoyable time on the cheap side. So I have compiled a few of my favorites.  Without further ado, here are five ways to have an adventurous, incredible, unforgettable summer (on a budget).

  • Sign Up For Deals!
Most restaurants, businesses, and theaters have clubs or e-mail deals. Often upon signing up you can get coupons and free stuff, with the added benefit of continuous rewards and bonuses of items. The result?  Free and discounted food, tickets, ice cream, soft pretzels, slushies, sandwiches, and well, you get the idea.........

(personally my favorites are Auntie Anne's, Cinemark, and Chick-fil-a)

  • Go Outdoors!
Yes, step outside and enjoy the day. Go for an adventure. Hang out at the park. Play some sports. Get soaked at a free splash pad. Take a picnic to a secluded field. Enjoy a long walk in nature. Take some blankets and cloud watch or stargaze. Catch some butterflies with friends. Swim in a lake or river. Not only will you catch a tan (or like me, burn under the Texas sun), but all of these can be very relaxing and can help you de-stress. And the best part, most of them are perfectly free of cost! (Who knew?)

  • Look Local
Most towns and cities have some sort of book, guide or website you can check for information. I know locally for me there are free movies in the park, discounted skating on Tuesdays, themed market days, summer long sports leagues, a county museum (free admittance), and other events to check out for little to no cost. Plus you can support local business and maybe get to know some new friends.

  • Go to the Zoo
I am not just saying that because it's popular. But visiting to zoo is a daylong affair. For a small fee you can get hours of entertainment and memories. And perhaps visit a park with a picnic packed afterwards. I have loads of great stories that involve the zoo.

  • Take on Learning a New Hobby.
Often learning a new skill is a great way to spend your time. While I know hobbies are not always free or even cheap that doesn't mean they can't be. Shop sales, borrow equipment, go in on a project with a friend and spilt the cost, check garage sales. You don't need fancy gadgets or classes. With YouTube and the internet available, learning something new becomes as easy as breathing.
So I hope you enjoyed my tips on spending less this summer. I am super excited for many memory filled days with friends and family. Now I leave you with this; relax, enjoy, savor, take in all that's around you, and remember to cherish every moment.

How To Jump Start Your Success

More often than not, I am a deep thinker. When something hits my mind, it is left to scrutiny and inspection. Lately, I have been thinking, what differentiates between those who have success and those who don't? Why do some people go above and beyond, while others simply quit? While whittling down the possibilities, one thing stood out in my mind: motivation! You see, motivation seems to be a common factor in the successful scenarios I have witnessed. Those who succeeded were continuously motivated. The ones who gave up, or never really tried, were not.

Do this one thing and watch it change your life

Hello Lovelies!
I hope everyone has had a great Monday. I just wanted to remind you to enjoy your week. Enjoy the fresh air, the sunshine, and the green grass. Appreciate those around you! All that you mother and father do for you. Your Friends. The sweet smiles of little ones around you. Take the time to love what God has given you. Because often when we become unaware and unappreciative of just how much we have. And we forget it can all be gone in a second. This week I have come to realize that there are so many things that can break your heart, cause you stress, and steal your joy. Events and feelings I NEVER thought would ever enter my life. And yet they did. So I advise you; enjoy the wonderful life you have been given. Make the best out of all circumstances, and in all things seek Christ.

Enjoy your week! :)

Is Social Media Distroying Us?

Social Media has become huge. And I mean Huge! Ask anyone and I guarantee they have at least one media account and likely more. With sources like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+, Wordpress, Tumblr, and many more, its easy to see how society has become totally invested in their phones. So the thought is, when you invest so much time on something, is it truly good for us?

The Story of a Girl, a Wasp, and Lots of Paint!

Today was one of those days that I will look back on and laugh. I decided that I should paint my room. And my desire was sooner rather than later, because....... well....... I am an impatient person. The  room I have always shared with my sister was in dire need of change. When I was itty bitty I had an obsession with Disney Princesses. And as a result, the room has been princess pink for about 10 years. Seeing as I have grown out of that obsession (my heart now belongs with Captain America and Doctor Who) you could understand my eagerness to paint it.

So first thing today was a trip to Home Depot, and right to the paint section.  Going to pick a paint seemed like seeking a cure for world hunger. Why are there sooooo many colors. I had no idea that there could be a trillion shades of light blue. I mean I don't understand how people were able to just walk up to the "great color wall" and select a color within 2 minutes. It felt like I was there for hours! And after making what felt like a monumental decision with my color, I discovered you still have to select a paint. Do you want matte or eggshell, interior, primer base 1 or 2. Ahh, why must there be so many decisions! At the end of it all, I came out with a really elegant pale blue.  I arrived home eventually and got started. And well.....it was an extremely funny day.
